Who is licensed to recruit in Thailand?
According to the list available on the Department of Employment website (under the Ministry of Labour), there are hundreds of licensed recruitment firms in Thailand, both local and international.
The Employment and Job Seekers’ Protection Act is the law in Thailand that regulates the business of a recruitment company.
- Like the license from TAT (Tourism Authority of Thailand under the Ministry of Tourism and Sports) to operate a travel agency in Thailand.
- It is similar to the approval by the FDA (Thai Food and Drug Administration under the Ministry of Public Health) for importers of medicines.
- And, many other government bodies issue licenses to companies operating in various industries or businesses.
A recruitment license is issued by the Department of Labour and must be renewed every two years.
The domestic license allows licensed recruiters to help their clients hire candidates for jobs in Thailand and Thailand only.
The international recruitment license is issued to job brokers who send Thai people to jobs overseas, such as construction in Taiwan, berry pickers in Finland, or maids in the Middle East.
