The job interview, for both candidates and clients, is usually a dreaded and stressful affair. Most of us don’t have many such encounters in a career lifetime, unless we work in recruitment or HR. Or perhaps have chosen a career as a job hopper – oh well!182_microphone_black

No wonder we start all over again each time we sit in the interview room, whether you are a line or HR manager about to interview candidates or the candidate being interviewed.

We all know it’s all over if a candidate is not well prepared for the interview and does not demonstrate the right skills and personality – case closed, bye bye candidate. But I have to tell all you managers, candidates are also scrutinising your performance as an interviewer. I know of many candidates who decided to pull out of a hiring process or decline a job offer, simply because the interviewer was amateurish, useless and/or clumsy. So read on and see how we can help you – both of you.

On Grant Thornton’s website you can now see two relative short but excellent videos, which will help you next time you find yourself in the interview room. No matter what side of the table you are sitting. Look for the video on the right side of the page. Avoid shooting yourself in the foot by being prepared.
